Do I Really Need to stretch?

Before I start this short chat, I would just like to say that I am not a doctor and please don't take my words as a medical advice.

I have been a trainer for almost 12 years and what I wrote is from my own experience.

The short answer to this question is YES! You do need to stretch.

Even if you are not planning to become a performer or to sit on your head one day, you need to stretch.

Now, that does not mean that you need to sit in your split or even get there, it just means that because in our daily life we mostly sit, stand or do the same movements, our body needs us to make some different stretches in order to work in a larger range.

This can help to prevent back pains, specifically lower back pains. It can help prevent hip pains and keep our body strong.

We have a lot of muscles surrounding our spine and in our stomachs that keeps everything in place and so working these muscles can help keep everything in place and prevent pain now and in the future.

Do i need to stretch every day??

No, you really don't 2-3 times a week can really change your life.

Does it suppose to hurt?

Well, a stretch is well, a stretch so, you will feel a kind of a pull in your muscles but, it is very hard to distinguish between 2 kinds of pain.

A sharp pain in a specific place is a bad pain

A long pain that feels like a pull is an ok pain, it's a pain that tells you that you are very close to your limit and it's time to stop the power that you put on your stretch.

If you have any questions or would like to add, I will be happy to hear from you!

Here is a short video for a nice warm up before training as well as a nice stretching routine:
